Setup FTP Server on Debian using VSFTP

by | Jan 13, 2019

vsftpd, is an FTP server for Unix-like systems, including Linux.

To get vsftpd up and running, do the following as root.

   Bash Script

apt-get install vsftpd ftp

systemctl restart vsftpd.service

cd /etc

vi vsftpd.conf

uncomment local_enable = YES

That should be enough to just get it up and running and make it possible to ftp to the debian server using a login.

You should also familiarize yourself with other settings in vsftpd.conf and set them appropriately for your needs.
